To her surprise these people exist. After being introduced they eventually form a club and become amateur mourners as a sort of service to humanity. Alice leaves her husband for a successful funeral director with “insider information” about the best wakes to attend. As time goes on they become aware of veiled, funereal woman following them. Just who is the mysterious, mute in black they keep encountering? They are soon to be shocked to discover that “she” is none other than Alice’s husband Brian. And Emily is in for a shocking surprise herself at a stranger’s wake. Or is it a stranger’s?

Both Models have secret agendas for saucy extra-marital affairs during the Christmas Eve carol service - but, the Spanish housekeeper from next door, and the arrival of Aunt Sophie and Melissa’s mother Hilary, (Who have saucy agendas of their own with the gigolo gardener Greg.) throw the best made plans into disarray.

Neil is secretly hiding in Pearl’s house from his over-protective mother. Pearl’s father’s strange toilet paper habits lead to unpleasant lavatorial blockages. And as a consequence, the inhabitants of the close believe there is a serious communal drain blockage, prompting Pearl and her husband Jim, to invite the residents of their close to use their amenities as an emergency measure for the weekend. This leads to unbearable tensions and explosive home truths sprout from all directions. But can Pearl and Jim save their holiday time and their marriage before it’s too late?

For some villagers; ancient folklore decrees that the village capers will be cursed if the pole is ever interfered with. This was never a more ubiquitous an idea, as when the pole is found and returned, sudden unsettling and gruesome murders start to unfurl. Local police inspector, Ermintrude Schlopps, arrives in the hope of bringing the perpetrator, or perpetrators, to book.
