A collection of real-life women throughout history who abandoned their lives (and crowns) to sail the seven seas!
This fast-paced, zany show proves that history can be fun and is filled with scallywags, swaggering, and sword-fights! The staging is flexible as the play opens on a school playground when a little girl wants to play pirates and a bully says girls can’t be a pirate because she’s a girl. The savior of the day is, of course, the librarian who just so happens to have a book on real life pirates who happened to be girls. The book comes to life and we meet real and figurative princesses such as: Alfhild, a princess who decides marriage can wait until she has a grand pirate adventure, Sadie O’Farrell, a tough New Yorker with a penchant for headbutting people, Grace O’Malley, after whom many an Irish song has been written and a seat at the table is reserved, and many more.
Fabulous opportunities for lots of stage combat (but it is encouraged to use non-traditional weapons like pool noodles, yard sticks, baguettes, etc.).Pirate
